Nuernberg Card Show – roundup

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off

This past weekend we visited our Friend Rudi down in Nuernberg at the NUERNBERGER VERSICHERUNG ARENA  for a card show that he hosted. The 4 hour trip was well worth it and for the Hockey enthusiast this is the place to be for picking up the latest and the greatest hockey cards ranging from the newest rookies and DEL cards to high-end autograph and jersey cards. I was very impressed in the turn out, there were 20 dealers setup and in addition to single cards that were being sold, a few of the dealers also had hockey pucks, figurine’s, memorabilia and unopened boxes for sale.  There was a little bit of everything available to warm the heart of the sports collector. Here are a few pictures to give you more of an idea of what the show was all about, I’ll make sure to post the dates of the next show as soon as I receive them!

Crosby gear found; stick was Russia-bound Glove was in teammate’s bag, stick in shipment bound for Russia March 11, 2010 Comments on this story (3) Kevin McGran The case of Sidney Crosby’s missing stick and glove has been solved. And though its resolution involves a Russian destination, a Toronto depot, a dash of international intrigue and an unwitting friend, it really is more a comedy of errors than a whodunnit novel. The glove and stick Crosby used to score the overtime goal that won Canada gold in Olympic hockey were packed in the wrong places. “I’m grateful to everyone who took the time and effort to get my equipment back for me,”

2010 ITG Heroes and Prospects Hockey

Posted by: | Comments (0)

The latest edition of Heroes and Prospects Hockey is on the way to stores from In The Game, but the hockey card manufacturer is already gearing up for its next release.

That would be Between The Pipes, returning for its fourth consecutive season as a stand-alone brand – fifth if you count the 2005-06 box set. Born as a popular insert set focused on NHL goalies, it has stood the test of time as one of the more unique sets of sports cards out there.

In The Game’s most recent newsletter showed off the new base cards picturing the men who patrol the crease, divided into four subsets. Stars of the Game, Greats of the Game and Future Stars are somewhat self-explanatory, while The Rival League explores the long defunct World Hockey Association.

Full specs for Between The Pipes are still under wraps. If it follows the pattern of previous releases, expect to see it in March or April and offer at least one goalie autograph and game-used memorabilia card per box.

The first bits of information were also released for the company’s upcoming tour, which will bring special redemption cards and door prizes directly to hobby shops. Like Upper Deck’s National Hockey Card Day promotion, this one is coming only to Canadian stores, but it should be a good time for those dedicated hockey fans north of the border.

In the meantime, Heroes and Prospects is set to go live on January 27. Boxes will contain two autographs and two memorabilia cards on average, and In The Game’s “He Shoots, He Scores” redemption program will continue with a new batch of 30 game-used memorabilia cards not found in packs and limited to just 20 copies each.
